Dr. Ishay Pomerantz
School of Physics and Astronomy, Raymond & Beverly Sackler Faculty of Exact Sciences
Name of the lab:
NePTUN
Nuclear Photonics at Tel Aviv University
A few words about us:
We investigate how intense light can accelerate particles to high energies. We use these particles to study frontier areas of science at the meeting point between material science, plasma physics, and nuclear physics. We conduct our experiments both in our laboratory and at specialized laser facilities abroad.

The Buchmann Faculty of Law
Name of the lab:
TraffLab: Labor Perspective to Human Trafficking
A few words about us:
An interdisciplinary research project rethinking the root causes of human trafficking and the global response to it. Devising new ways to address the structural causes of workers’ vulnerability to severe forms of labor market exploitation in a global economy.
Prof. Haim Suchowski
Raymond & Beverly Sackler Faculty of Exact Sciences, School of Physics and Astronomy
Name of the lab
QuanTAU – Satellite Observatory Ground Station
A few words about us:
The Center for Quantum Science and Technology is the first ground station in Israel — and among the most advanced in the world — for tracking, sensing, hyperspectral imaging, and optical and quantum communication with satellites in orbit around the Earth.
Prof. Lilach Hadany
Faculty of Life Sciences
Name of the lab:
Hadany Lab
A few words about us:
My main research interest is variation in nature, and in particular the evolution of the mechanisms that generate variation: recombination, sexual reproduction, mutation, migration, outcrossing, alternative splicing, polyandry, and even early death. Using analytical models, computer simulations, and sometimes experiments we try to understand the forces driving variation, the patterns of variation expected in natural populations, and the evolutionary consequences of these patterns.

Name of the lab:
ZUCKER LAB : Environmental Materials & Processes
A few words about us:
Our group is involved in the design, preparation, characterization, and testing of materials and processes for environmental applications. We also focus on quantifying the risk of nanomaterials on the environment and identifying future areas of research necessary to realize the safe deployment of promising nanomaterial applications.
Dr. Tali Ilovitsh
Department of Biomedical Engineering, The Iby and Aladar Fleischman Faculty of Engineering
Name of the lab:
The Ilovitsh Lab
A few words about us:
We develop noninvasive medical ultrasound technologies for diagnostics, monitoring, and therapy for clinically relevant problems. Our research is highly multidisciplinary, combining engineering, physics, biology, chemistry and medicine. We utilize the unique ability of sound waves to penetrate deep into the body, in some cases even through an intact skull, and couple it with gas-bubbles. These bubbles are efficient theranostic probes that can be used for simultaneous imaging and controlled therapy at a targeted site. We develop enhanced ultrasound-mediated gene delivery methods, noninvasive ultrasound surgery, and safe and precise blood-brain barrier openings for brain therapy. In parallel, we are developing optically-inspired ultrasonic techniques for overcoming current limitations in ultrasound imaging. Current interests include 3D ultrasound, super-resolution, image processing, and machine learning.
Prof. Yuval Gadot

POST-BOG TRIP
Post-BOG Trip: In the Footsteps of Sages and Pilgrims
This one-day excursion will amaze you with an entirely new perspective on the Dead Sea and Judeo-Christian heritage. The trip will focus on the fascinating history of the Dead Sea region, from ancient times through the birth of Christianity, the establishment of the State and up to the present day, and will feature a tour of sites located in a closed military zone – opened by the IDF specially and exclusively for our group.
We will explore topics ranging from archaeology and agriculture to climate and the environment, and enjoy intriguing geopolitical and historical insights from a team of TAU experts who will accompany us throughout the entirety of the trip: Archaeologist Dr. Guy Stiebel, and Middle East scholars Dr. Arik Rodinsky and Dr. Amos Nadan.
Our trip will begin at Qasr al-Yahud on the western bank of the Jordan River – the site where the Children of Israel crossed into the Promised Land after wandering in the desert for 40 years and where, almost 1,500 years later, Jesus was baptized. Located about 20 minutes north of the Dead Sea, Qasr al-Yahud is the third holiest site in the Christian world. With Jordan just yards away, we will be able to wave at the soldiers and tourists on the Jordanian side of the river.
After an exciting tour of the abandoned, yet strikingly beautiful “Land of the Monasteries,” we will continue to more Dead Sea adventures, including a visit to an archaeological dig of an ancient synagogue at Ein Gedi.
We will end our day with a lavish private beach party featuring wine-tasting and music. And for anyone interested in a dip in the Dead Sea – don’t forget your bathing suit!
Please note:
Due to the early hour of departure, a light breakfast will be distributed on the bus.
Parts of the trip will take place in off-road vehicles that are not accessible for the disabled.
*** Space is limited. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.***
